Express Registration of Swiss trademarks If the list of goods and services of a Swiss trademark application comprises only standardardized terms contained in the database of the SFIPI and there are no obvious absolute grounds which could bar the registration of the trademark, then the application matures into a registered tradmark within 3 to 4 weeks.

Increase of the official fees for filing a trademark applica The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (SFIPI) granted the last few years a discount for filing trademark applications electronically in Switzerland. As 95 % of the trademark applications are now filed electronically the SFIPI does no longer grant this discount.

Dr. Nicole Zech-Agarwal
Dr. Nicole Zech-Agarwal joined Riederer Hasler & Partner Patentanwälte AG as a patent engineer in summer 2009. Her area of expertise includes physics, chemistry and mechanics with specialization in material properties and their analysis. Prior to joining Riederer Hasler & Partner Patentanwälte AG she worked as a patent examiner at the European Patent Office (EPO) in The Hague (2000 to 2006) and Munich (2006-2009). In 1999 Dr. Zech-Agarwal graduated with a doctorate from the department of material science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL). Her research was in the area of fabrication and characterization of thin film alloys. She also holds an undergraduate degree in Material Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETH Zurich). She is currently preparing for her exams to become a European patent attorney.
